Centered Clay Studio Summer mini-class series

Our instructors have designed a line-up of our favorite techniques in this mini-class series.  Whether it's learning how to use Elan Transfers with color, layering and textures, creating your own Cricut designs, fixing a broken pot with Kintsugi or creating wall art with geometric shapes, color and oxides, we have something for you this summer.  These are designed to be compact and transferrable to your pottery style and to fit into your busy summer lifestyle. 

Who? Advanced beginners, prior students, intermediate potters, and those doing studio member orientation. Teens 13+ and adults who have wheel or hand-building experience, previous 1/2 day workshop attendees who want more or first timers who are intrigued.

    Underglaze transfers, layering, coloring techniques

    June 22nd and 29th 2 - 5 pm.
    Take your pottery design to new levels by going deep with Elan Transfers. We have 75 patterns to create fun designs. Week one we will make your pieces with a design plan in mind. For those of you with wheel exp, you can throw pieces, or we have a lot of hand building options. Week 2 is all about the techniques. Start with the application basics and evolve to multiple techniques including layering, adding underglazes and textures like stamps.

    July 12th and 19th 9 am to noon in The Nook

  • Relief Wall Design with Rachel Bevis

    Relief Wall Design with Rachel Bevis

    Artist Technique Instructor: Rachel Bevis
    Tuesday August 5th and 12th 1 - 4 pm
    Start with an 8'10" slab of clay and random shapes and household items and create your own geometric wall art. You'll create a scene and then come back week 2 to add color washes with color inlay, glass, oxides and underglazes.

    Wednesday August !3th and 20th 6 - 9 pm
    * Optional presession Monday August 18th with Debby
    Learn to use the Cricut design software and how to personalize your pottery with these designs. In this 3 part workshop you'll incorporate a session at the Kennett Library, tour the makerspace, learn the software and Linda's application to achieve fun and personal pieces. * Optional session to make your greenware pieces is available below.

  • 2 hour greenware and underglaze session for Linda's workship

    2 hour greenware and underglaze session for Linda's workship

    Add this 2 hr making session between the software instruction and the stencil application. You'll make 3 pieces of greenware approx. 4x6" that will highlight your designs. Underglazes will be available and applied at the greenware stage. (Note you can do this at your home studio as well, remember clay not purchased at Centered will not be fired here)

STUDENT CANCELLATION, REFUNDS, AND CHANGING CLASSES POLICY:

A signed waiver by event participant or parent/guardian will be required for your first class or at each workshop.

• If you register for the wrong class, please email to be transferred. Do not double book, or you will be charged a change of registration fee of 6%. (Our registration system requires an admin to make the change, or a new order is generated, hence the 6% fee.)
• Cancellations 48 hours or more before the class start time will be processed minus a 6% transaction fee.
• Withdrawals during week 1 will get a 50% refund.
• No refunds after the first week.
• If you need to make a class change within the same semester, email [email protected].

We require a minimum of 5 students for a class. We will notify you within 7 days of the class start and refund 100% of the price if we cannot hold a class.
