Centered Clay Studio  Mini-Series Summer Classes 

Our instructors have designed a line-up of our favorite techniques in this mini-class series. Whether it's learning how to use Elan Transfers with color, layering and textures, creating your own Cricut designs, or creating wall art with geometric shapes, color and oxides, we have something for you this summer. These mini-classes are designed to be transferrable to your pottery style and fit into your busy summer lifestyle. 

Who? Advanced beginners, prior students, intermediate potters, and those doing studio member orientation. Teens 13+ and adults who have wheel or hand-building experience, previous 1/2-day workshop attendees who want more, or first-timers who are intrigued.

    Sunday, July 12th and 19th, 9 am - noon in The Nook (around the porch to side entrance). This studio has 3 steps into it and is not ADA compliant.
    Who? Teens and adults with some clay experience (YES, high school pottery class counts!)

    Do you want your pottery to be brighter, playful and unique? Start with intentional shapes either on the wheel or hand-built, add your personality with color, patterns, and layering. We will incorporate Elan Transfers. Choose from 75 patterns to create fun designs. Workshop comes with one sheet of transfers underglazes, and stamps . More transfers are available for purchase.

    On week 1, we will make your pieces with a design plan in mind. For those of you with wheel experience, you can throw pieces. Not experienced on the wheel? We also have a lot of hand-building options.

    Week 2 is all about the techniques. Start with the application basics and evolve to multiple techniques including layering and adding underglazes and textures like stamps.

  • 2-part workshop: Relief Wall Design with Rachel Bevis

    2-part workshop: Relief Wall Design with Rachel Bevis

    Tuesday, August 5th and 12th, 1-4 pm
    Artist Technique Instructor: Rachel Bevis

    Start with an 8" x 10" slab of clay, add imprinting, and household items to create your own geometric wall art. You'll create a scene in week 1 and come back in week 2 to add color washes with color inlay, glass, oxides, and underglazes.

    August 21st is in The Nook. There are 3 steps into The Nook.

    Learn to use the Cricut software to personalize your pottery with your own designs. In this 2-part workshop, you'll incorporate a session at the Kennett Library, tour the maker-space, and learn the software and Linda's application to achieve fun and personal pieces.

  • 2-hour greenware and underglaze session for Linda's Cricut workshop

    2-hour greenware and underglaze session for Linda's Cricut workshop

    Friday August 8th, 5:30 - 8:30 pm

    Add this 2-hour making session between the Cricut software instruction and the stencil application. You'll make 3 pieces of greenware approx. 4"x6" that will highlight your designs. Underglazes will be available and applied at the greenware stage. (Note you can do this at your home studio as well, but clay not purchased at Centered will not be fired here.)

STUDENT CANCELLATION, REFUNDS, AND CHANGING CLASSES POLICY:

A signed waiver by event participant or parent/guardian will be required for your first class or at each workshop.

If you register for the wrong class, please email to be transferred. Do not double book, or you will be charged a change of registration fee of 6%. (Our registration system requires an admin to make the change, or a new order is generated, hence the 6% fee.)
Cancellations 48 hours or more before the class start time will be processed minus a 6% transaction fee.
Withdrawals during week 1 will get a 50% refund.
No refunds after the first week.

We require a minimum of 5 students for a class. We will notify you within 7 days of the class start and refund 100% of the price if we cannot hold a class.
